New England Masters Camp (posted 26Feb2023)

At week #7 New Haven is in first with an insurmountable lead at 4759 points, Newington in 2nd with 3724, Mt Laurel in 3rd with 2936, and 4^th Danbury Ski club with 1490 and 5^th Hamden ski club with 1298. New Haven has dominated the Monday night series, jumping out with an early lead, and staying in front all the way!

The last Monday night will hopefully see all of the bibs collected. If they are not collected on that night, your club will be responsible to replace the bib.

It has been a very warm season, but Mount Southington has done an extraordinary job of keeping the snow on the hill. Southington was able to make snow the Friday before our last race so that we could go out with a bang.

There is still some good snow conditions out there, I hope you find some in northern locations..

Week #7 is in the history books.

Different courses set, different course seter. The first few gates were straight, and then the turns started, not our normal rhythm but fun and different.

The men’s course rutted up fairly well, the women/old guys stayed fairly smooth. The snow was soft. We had 107 races. Only one more week to go.

The snow should last, so we should get in our full 8 week series, that means that individual results will be the best 6 of 8 races = see report #5 for your current standing

AWARDS Party Info – 6:30 PM

The 50^th anniversary awards party for Monday night will be handed out at a party at the mountain at 6:30 PM on Monday March 6^th, 2 weeks after the last race. All are invited to celebrate the end of the Monday night racing season, please plan to be there. Ron Kapraszewski and Lynn Swanson have been organizing and handing out swag during the race season. Also the CSC and Ron & Lynn have purchased T-shirts with the CSC logo and 50th year celebration for anyone that has raced for 4 or more times to be handed out free.

Last year the Monday night series averaged 97 racers for the 8 week program. This year we increased participation (only counting 7 weeks) to an average of 117 racers, an increase of 18% – great progress!

We can only hope that next year will allow all the CSC events, the State races, the Winter Carnival and the CT Senior Winter Games to return to our racing calendar.

Racing Schedule 2022-2023

The Monday night CSC race series at Mount Southington, CT -schedule for 2022-2023 is for Mondays: December 19, 26 January 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 and February 6, [8 weeks] with 2 makeup dates February 13, & 20.

Monday Info needed for racing: (Info Posted 11Dec2022)

Skier or boarder, Name (first & last), address, birthdate, male or female, ski club, email address, tel #, NASTAR #, (if you do not have a NASTAR #, one will be assigned to you on your first race) = All of this info must be entered into the CSC racing database and you be assigned a CSC perm #= this will be unique to you and will follow all of your racing history. In order to race, you must be a paid member of one of the CT Ski Council member clubs. Once you have a perm #, updates of current/or changed information should be forwarded to skicouncil@gmail.com Also initial requests for perm # should be directed to this email.

In order to race on a Monday night, the CSC uses the AdminSports web page for payment for racing and ski ticket. This should be done between Friday and noon on the Monday of the race. You must register on line prior to the race- NO EXCEPTION- there will be no walk ins the day of the race. Registration on AdminSports should happen in advance of any race and both the NASTAR # and Perm # are required for initial registration.

Bibs will be handed out at your first race, and you will keep them for the season. They must be turned in at the end of the season (or your last race). Run order is determined by a lottery number for each course. That number runs first, and others follow in order, and it loops around. There can be 2 runs, the best run counts. Men 65 & over, women, and snowboarders run on the skiers right course, Men 64 & under on the skiers left course. There is a 3^rd course (skiers far right) that is a training NASTAR course- for an extra fee (sign up for NASTAR) on the AdminSports web page.
